It used to be that immigrants were peacefully living in the U.S. but now since Trump has come into office this has caused lots of family loss and ruckus. Trump has deported multiple families back to their countries because they had no documents etc. This means that immigrants are not allowed to be here for some reason.
The debate over immigration policies in the United States has intensified over the following series of President Trump. These orders have been aimed to tighten immigration controls and the deportation process. This has caused a big problem and controversy.
Lynnise Gittens, a major in Political Science shares her thoughts. “I feel very sad that Trump is supporting immigrants because some of them come to the United States to live a life that they can’t live in their home country. And to get it taken away from them all because they don’t have proper citizenship at the right time or due to certain circumstances.”
One of Trump’s components for Immigrants is a “zero tolerance” policy which means to mandate the prosecution of all immigrants caught illegally crossing the U.S border. This has increased the deportation rates and separations of families, this is overall heavy criticism over human rights.
Lloyd Gittens, a U.S. citizen shares that “As an immigrant from Guyana, South America it is hard to see immigrants being taken from family. I’m big on family values and seeing people getting snatched not from their families but their dreams is heartbreaking. I was once in their shoes just trying to have a better future. I’m glad I migrated many years back when it wasn’t so strict.”
The impact of these policies is a very sensitive issue today. The immigration orders remain a continuous issue. The ongoing problem is to find a fair solution to immigration in the United States.
