This year, our BASE principal is retiring after 25 years of work. Even though I’m new to the school, I’ve seen how much she means to everyone here. She has made a lasting impression on the students, the teachers, and the entire community.
When I asked her, she told me that she had always thought about retirement from the beginning of her career.
Now, she’s ready to move on. She’s looking forward to discovering a new chapter in her life.
The hardest time for her was the COVID period. She was afraid for the school and the students. She also lost a friend who was a principal, which affected her deeply, but there were also some wonderful memories; her favorite was graduation day. Seeing the students succeed and being proud of themselves was a real joy for her. What has motivated her throughout her career is helping others. Whether it’s students, families, or her colleagues, she has always wanted to do good around her.
She also gave some advice for the person who takes her place. She said: “Enjoy this experience. Being a principal isn’t always easy; there will be good times and bad. But you shouldn’t take things too personally. It’s not about you, it’s about the students. Do everything you can to ensure they succeed and graduate on time.”
What she will miss most is spending time with the students in the cafeteria. She loved talking with them, laughing, playing, and sharing simple moments. And now, she wants to travel even more. She feels free and full of ideas. She wants to enjoy life and do what she loves.
Before leaving, she wanted to thank everyone: students, teachers, colleagues, and parents. She said she learned a lot here and that it was a pleasure being our principal.
Thank you, Madam. Happy retirement to you; you will always be in our hearts.
